Our group works at the intersection of biology and engineering with a focus on microbial systems. Engineering tools, including microfluidics and quantitative modeling, allow us to unlock mysteries of complex natural microbial communities associated with the environment and the human microbiome. We aim to exploit natural processes within microorganisms and their communities through synthetic and systems biology to address societal needs with sustainable solutions.
